Pakistan condemns US decision over Golan Heights

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan joined the international community in voicing its strong opposition and condemnation of the US Administration's decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over Syrian Golan Heights.This decision represents a serious violation of UN Charter, international law and applicable UN Security Council Resolutions, particularly 497 (1981). It also constitutes a serious blow to the Rule of Law and international norms, Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said on Wednesday.“Pakistan shares the international outrage and is deeply concerned over the potentially grave repercussions of this decision for the region and beyond,” the statement issued by foreign office reads.Pakistan called upon the UN Security Council to take cognizance of this situation and take steps in accordance with the UN Charter.
